Ingredients:

  • All-purpose flour 3 cups and keep more for the pan.
  • Baking soda 1 teaspoon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 cup of melted unsalted butter, at room temperature.
  • 1 cup of  granulated white sugar
  • 2 eggs large-sized at room temperature 
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 3 large ripe bananas, mashed.
  • 1 cup chopped walnut.
  • 1 ½ cup buttermilk at room temperature.
  • To grease the pan, use room-temperature butter. 

Cream Cheese Frosting:

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 (8-ounce) pack of cream cheese at room temperature 
  • 1 cup room temperature butter
  • 5 cups powdered sugar.
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder (optional)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. For the preheating process, adjust the oven temperature to 350 °F (175 °C). Prepare a 9-inch cake pan by brushing melted butter and dusting the flour. You can either use baking paper and grease along by brushing butter.
  2.  Mash bananas using a fork till no lumps are left.
  3. Add baking soda, flour, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl, and mix them with a spatula.
  4. Next, add the butter ,eggs and sugar to a big bowl and mix. 
  5.  Now add vanilla essence and mashed banana and mix them well.
  6. Add dry ingredients into this wet mixture while stirring until just mixed. Add buttermilk in three additions; after each addition, mix until combined. Be careful not to mix too vigorously. 
  7.  Add chopped walnuts. Mix lightly with a spatula.
  8. Transfer this batter to your prepared cake mold , then smooth its top using a spatula.
  9. Bake for 45-50 minutes. After 40 minutes, check on the cake; baking times can vary. The cake will appear golden with slightly browned edges and test with a toothpick placed in the center till it comes clean.
